Blackstone Resources AG announces that its 100% subsidiary Blackstone Technology has won the Green Product Award 2022. Blackstone's 3D printing, a high-speed multilayer technology, for production of environmentally friendly and high-performance lithium-ion batteries won out of 1,500 competitors from 54 countries in the categories of environmental protection, innovation and design.

“We are delighted that the dedication of our engineers and our intensive development work have won the jury's recognition,” says CEO and Founder of Blackstone Resources AG Ulrich Ernst. “This reconfirms both the contribution of our battery technologies to a sustainable transport transition and their technical edge. Green batteries are the future, and Blackstone can deliver them today.”

Since 2013, the Green Product Award has honored products and services that stand out in terms of sustainability, innovation and design and have the potential to positively change the market. “It is precisely from these points of view that our battery technology delivers convincing arguments,” says Ernst. “We achieve a significantly higher energy density of +20%, which also promises more range in electromobility. In addition, we produce a precise fit for every design and sustainably reduce energy and material costs.”

Blackstone relies on a water-based manufacturing process that requires fewer raw materials and chemicals. Toxic solvents are dispensed with completely. The manufacturing costs are also significantly reduced with the 3D printing process developed by Blackstone. These arguments also convinced the initiators of the Green Product Award. The entry we submitted shows “how a mix of sustainability, design and innovation can reconcile a good lifestyle with a more sustainable future,” says Nils Bader, director of the Green Future Club and initiator of the Green Product Award.

At the award ceremony in Munich, Germany, Ernst and Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Business Development Officer Serhat Yilmaz accepted the award for Blackstone.

“As excited as we are about this award, we will not rest on it,” said Ernst at the end of the event. “Our priority 3D printing technology is already suitable for the production of solid-state batteries, which will set new standards in terms of energy density, safety and service life—with reduced costs at the same time. We are currently working at full speed on this new technology and will soon begin pre-series production.”
