Formnext, a major international conference focused on additive manufacturing and 3D printing, has announced its November conference will be held in a virtual-only format. The conference had been scheduled to take place as an in-person event in Frankfurt, but organizers decided to cancel the live event in response to a rise in COVID-19 infections and associated challenges for international travelers.

According to an announcement on the event's web page:

“Rising infection rates and increasing travel restrictions have thwarted our efforts to bring the additive manufacturing community together in person. 'The whole world of additive manufacturing' – what makes Formnext and the industry otherwise unique makes international face-to-face encounters at these times impossible. Thus, both the AM community and thus Formnext are characterized by an exceptionally high degree of internationality. The again tightened measures now make it impossible for the majority of exhibitors and visitors from all over the world to come to Frankfurt.”
