Supermicro has announced it is launching its new Edge systems, which are optimized for 5G Edge to Cloud IoT ecosystems.

These new Edge platforms based on Supermicro servers with optional support for Intel Programmable Acceleration FPGA cards deliver local compute and AI inferencing. Supermicro servers are designed to transform enterprises with intelligent connectivity from IoT devices to the cloud, the company says.

The benefits of these new platforms include eliminating complexity, accelerate deployments and elevate developers to focus on the business logic powering IoT applications and services, the company adds.

As well as introducing AI to the Edge, these new solutions can be used in such industries as manufacturing, oil and gas, and healthcare, the company notes.

These solutions cover a range of compact low-power devices, appliances and mini-servers for data exploration, aritifical intelligence and high performance, high density computing for real-time cloud-based analytics.

These new solutions are made to handle all the data demands by 5G using AI inferencing and deliver balanced compute, storage and networking for the intelligent edge as well as long life availability, the company reports. The solutions offer ample memory, WAN and LAN communication support, redundant power and operation at 0 to 45 degrees C ambient temperature range.
