Artec 3D releases the Artec Ray II, a high-precision 3D LiDAR scanner designed for the digitization of large objects and spaces with speed and accuracy, the company says. This scanner has been developed in collaboration with Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, combining the expertise of both industry-leading companies. With its ability to capture a full dome in 1.7 minutes, and at a 3D point accuracy of 1.9 mm from 10 meters, the Artec Ray II is designed for creating digital twins of large-scale objects and complex scenes.
Data from Artec Ray II can be combined in Artec Studio software with data from other Artec 3D scanners, such as the wireless, intuitive, handheld Artec Leo, which can provide detailed scans of selected areas of large objects, providing comprehensive 3D models.
The Ray II when paired with Artec Leo is ideal for creating digital twins of objects from wind turbines to ship propellers, and airplanes to bridges to factory floors,. It advances 3D data capture, offering metrology-grade precision with an angular accuracy of 18 inches (0.87 mm @10m) and a range accuracy of 1.0 mm + 10 ppm, according to the company.
“Artec 3D is committed to constantly innovating and expanding its suite of 3D scanning solutions, and our collaboration with Leica Geosystems in developing the Artec Ray II embodies this commitment,” says Art Yukhin, president and CEO of Artec 3D. “We can now offer a unique combination of two wireless, fast-capture scanners: one long-range, and one handheld.”
In addition to scanning speeds, the Artec Ray II has features designed to provide an easy scanning experience. The scanner is equipped with automated targetless field registration, real-time scan alignment and a double-scan feature for the automatic removal of moving objects. Featuring a touchscreen and user-friendly mobile interface, along with safeguarding against rain and dust (IP54-rated), the Artec Ray II is a user-friendly solution, ready for indoor and outdoor use.
The Artec Ray II comes with four batteries and a charger. The scanner operates with two batteries at a time, which can be hot-swapped with the other two without powering off.
