Lenovo reveals the new ThinkStation P8 tower workstation powered by AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000 WX-Series processors and NVIDIA RTXs GPUs.

The new ThinkStation P8 builds on the P620, a workstation powered by AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO processors. Featuring an optimized thermal design in an Aston Martin inspired chassis, the ThinkStation P8 combines Lenovo’s expertise, customer experience with compute architecture courtesy of AMD and NVIDIA.  ThinkStation P8 can handle intense workloads across multiple segments focused on outcome-based workflow agility, Lenovo reports.

“At Lenovo, we understand that our customers need high-quality workstations that can adapt to their changing and diverse needs. That's why we collaborated with AMD and NVIDIA to create the ThinkStation P8, a workstation that combines power, flexibility and enterprise-grade features,” says Rob Herman, vice president and general manager, Workstation and Client AI Business Unit, Lenovo. “Designed to offer unparalleled performance and scalability, whether to run complex simulations, render stunning visuals, or develop cutting-edge AI applications, the ThinkStation P8 can handle it all. And with Lenovo's certifications, security and support, you can trust that the ThinkStation P8 will exceed expectations.”

ThinkStation P8 Industry Solutions

Professionals in fields such as architecture, engineering, and more know that a powerful and reliable workstation is critical, Lenovo reports. Handling complex and demanding tasks, from data intensive workstreams to real-time graphics applications or AI model development, are part of these industries. ThinkStation P8 is a workstation designed for challenging workloads. Its enhanced thermal design, developed in cooperation with Aston Martin, allows users to push powerful AMD CPUs and NVIDIA RTX professional graphics cards options faster and for longer.

Powered by the latest AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000 WX-Series processors built on the leading 5nm “Zen 4” architecture and featuring up to 96 cores and 192 threads, Lenovo ThinkStation P8 thrives in high-intensity environments such as building information modeling (BIM) workflows, software development projects or product lifecycle management.

The new rack-optimized chassis offers larger Platinum rated power supply options to handle more demanding expansion capabilities. For example, it can support up to three (3) NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada Generation GPUs to help reduce time to completion in graphics-intensive applications like real-time ray tracing or video rendering, simulation or computer aided design. The combined power also opens up new realms of immersive environments including digital worlds, AR/VR content creation, and advanced AI model development, according to Lenovo.

”We are delighted to power the latest ThinkStation P8 tower workstations with our cutting-edge AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000 WX-Series processors to bring leading performance and bandwidth to overcome ever more complex workflows,” says Jason Banta, corporate vice president and general manager OEM PCs, AMD. “Architects, engineers, visual artists and AI model developers will relish the power, flexibility and reliability that ThinkStation P8 with AMD delivers.”

Lenovo workstations can handle tasks such as AI data preparation, data cleansing, data visualization, model selection, model scoring, model training, and fine-tuning, which can occupy a significant portion of a data scientist’s workflow. Large language models (LLMs) require NVIDIA GPUs for training and tuning on owned data in the enterprise. The latest CPUs and AI-optimized NVIDIA GPUs feature throughout our ThinkStation and ThinkPad workstation portfolio, and NVIDIA AI Enterprise, an end-to-end software platform for production AI, allow organizations to work on their own data in a secure sandbox personal supercomputing environment.
