Lubrizol 3D Printing Solutions has commercially released ESTANE 3D TPU M88A thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) under a selective availability program. This grade is designed and certified for HP’s Jet Fusion 5200 series, a 3D printing solution made for production applications. ESTANE 3D M88A is a flexible and durable material suited for production parts and the printing of complex geometries and lattice structures.

As a certified HP materials partner, ESTANE 3D TPU M88A has been developed in collaboration with HP. ESTANE 3D TPU M88A is a soft, flexible polymer with processing and unpacking properties for HP’s industrial-grade Jet Fusion 5200 printers, using powder bed fusion technology. It has had development and testing at the Avid Product Development and Lubrizol Advanced Materials facilities, together with its beta partner Prototal AB. Various applications will be showcased at the Lubrizol and HP booths at Formnext from November 15-18 in Frankfurt, Germany.

The upcoming availability of ESTANE 3D TPU M88A starting in the first quarter of 2023 will allow additive manufacturing companies to target various final parts using the benefits of HP’s advanced 3D printing technology. The new material is enabling faster printing time. Applications can be unpacked at room temperature, allowing for free schedule production runs.

ESTANE 3D M88A allows for softer TPU-based lattice designs that can be dyed—rather than coated—to provide various color choices, resulting in finished colors brighter versus other TPU parts. The new material is applied in prosthetics and orthotics, and is well-suited for a range of consumer, industrial and automotive applications.

“The team has been working diligently with our partners to develop a new grade that is flexible, durable with good aesthetics and design flexibility, while maximizing operational efficiencies for our customers by minimizing manual labor needed,” says Gert-Jan Nijhuis, general manager for Lubrizol 3D Printing Solutions.

Lubrizol 3D Printing Solutions is exhibiting at Formnext show from November 15-18, 2022, in Frankfurt Am Main, Germany. Visit Lubrizol at booth 12.1-F69.
